2019’s Best Wig Moments
Whether you wear a hairpiece because you love regularly jazzing up your look, you wish to conceal your natural locks, or you are having treatment for cancer and want to replace any hair that has fallen out, wigs are becoming the ‘in’ thing at the moment.
Gone are the days where your choice was limited to brunette or blonde, straight or curly, long or short. In 2019, you can enjoy a huge range of wigs that can look as close to your natural locks as possible, or give you the opportunity to embrace an entirely different appearance.

Killing Eve’s Villanelle
Killing Eve has taken over TV screens throughout the country, and if you are addicted to the thriller series, you are bound to have spotted assassin Villanelle’s choice of wigs.
Having to keep her identity under wraps throughout the season, Villanelle is used to wearing wigs so she doesn’t get caught.
One of our favourites though has to be her sugary pink wig she wore in episode six. The bright-coloured hair is not what you’d expect from someone who is trying to stay under the radar, but it just goes to emphasise Villanelle’s subtle assassin skills.
Speaking to MSN, Lucy Cain, the show’s hair and make-up designer, said her wigs send a poignant message to the audience.
“When you see her in a wig … it’s a flag to the audience that she’s about to commit a murder. It always help build the, Oh, here we go feeling on the show,” she stated.
As Lucy said Villanelle is “quite childlike” and does not wear a lot of make-up, being able to express herself in her hair is really important for the murderer.
The Perfection reveal
Psychological thriller The Perfection has been getting everyone talking since it launched on Netflix in May, with the movie based on a plot by former cello prodigy Charlotte to enact revenge on the leader of a children’s musical academy, who is revealed as a sexual predator.
One of the most nail-biting moments of the flick has to be the ending, when she pulls off her curly brown wig to reveal her true identity in front of her abuser.
The anticipation has drawn in audiences, with Entertainment Weekly saying: “He’s going to see the scars, the damage, and the physical toll his actions took on her, before she turns the tables and gives him a painful awakening.”
It went on to say: “And the most powerful statement she can make is, of course, doing it all after a heavily symbolic wig reveal.”
Sophie Turner’s hen party wigs
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner shocked fans earlier this year when she tied the knot with boyfriend Joe Jonas in a secret Las Vegas wedding.
However, the refreshingly fuss-free nuptials turned out to be a rehearsal for their celeb-filled bash, which took place earlier this week in France.
Apparently, the loved-up couple always planned on a lavish wedding, but needed to have a legal marriage before “a real one”, with Jonas recently telling Harper’s Bazaar: “It was either the courthouse, or our version, and I preferred our version. Friends, Elvis and Ring Pops.”
Before the 23-year-old bride walked down the aisle – in a stunning Louis Vuitton lace gown, no less – she enjoyed a hen party in Benidorm, Spain, with her closest gal pals.
Sophie and her best friends clearly had a fab, light-hearted time, as a photo of the gang was uploaded on to Instagram with the group all wearing brightly-coloured wigs.
While everyone sported a different colour, they were all straight, blunt bobs with a clean-cut fringe. The actress’ friend Blair Noel Croce posted the photo on to her social media account on June 12th, and the picture has already amassed 3,962 likes from fans all over the world.
Kylie Jenner … and all her wigs
Kylie Jenner has definitely become the Queen of Wigs over the last few years, with the TV star as famous for her different hairpieces as she is for her billion-dollar Lip Kit business.
Most recently, she was spotted wearing a shoulder-length platinum blonde wig with blunt bangs – much like Sophie’s and her friends’ on her hen do!
However, she started the year with icy-blue hair, and has been seen in a mermaid-inspired long purple hairpiece at the Met Gala, candy-floss pink locks, and even a bright-blonde pixie cut for the cover of Paper magazine.
